Proposal for an after-school Creative Dance Program in Elementary Schools
The Teach, Educate, and Move (TEAM) program aims to fill three gaps in elementary school education. First, public schools lack both funding and time in the school day for fine arts programs. In addition, the increasing number of standardized tests is making it impossible for schools to provide physical education programs, which is contributing to childhood obesity. The final void is the lack of after school care for children of working parents. The TEAM program will not only expose elementary school children to dance and music, and not only get them excited to exercise, but will assure parents that their children are in a safe, educational, environment even after the school day ends.
By investing in the TEAM program, companies will aid in the development of healthy, creative children and improve the environment of the whole school. Of course, the positive press resulting from such a contribution to the community will increase the profits of any investing company. However, the larger, more long term benefit, is that companies who invest in the TEAM program will, through advertising to younger consumers, be creating their own future consumer base. In addition, after start-up costs, the TEAM program has minimal maintenance costs, since it is based in physical movement as a learning tool, and will therefore be able to turn a solid, sustainable profit for a long time to come.
