Hello, my name is Janis Dingels, and you've found my blog. This is a great way to get in touch with me and a great place to share thoughts on dance, art, or just about anything.
About Me:
Originally from Maryland, right outside Washington D.C., I'm currently a twenty-one year old senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Though I'm majoring in dance, with special interest in dance research and teaching children, I'm also pursuing a minor in English. Outside of school, I'm active in the Student Dance Movement, an organization which focuses on exposing all types of people to all types of dance and encourages collaboration with other, non-dance, artists.
Goals:
After graduation I intend to pursue a master's degree in English with the eventual goal of researching and writing about dance. Right now, I'm especially interested in conceptions of health and the human body in dancers, how politics affects the arts, and how dance benefits children. In addition to writing about kids and the arts, I'm also hoping to bring dance, especially more creative, less structured dance, into schools and community centers.
